Adoption

The word alone seems full of questions. The process is unknown to most who haven't been through it, as are the rewards.

Concerned Persons For Adoption (CPFA) is a non-profit organization in the State of New Jersey dedicated to the belief that every child deserves a family. CPFA is not an adoption agency, but a volunteer organization working to support those who wish to adopt, and to provide educational and networking resources to those who have adopted.

Come and join us on Friday, February 27, 8:00 pm-9:30 pm for our upcoming "Can We Talk?" presentation and open discussion on Identity and Adoption

Identity is not something adoptees “figure out once.” It evolves over time—often in ways that raise complex questions about race, belonging, family, and self.

This session invites adult adoptees into an honest, respectful conversation about identity within adoption, with space for reflection, discussion, and lived experience. Parents are welcome to attend, with adoptee voices centered.

Presenters:
Amy Strickler, LMSW, LSW
Assistant Director, Intensive Weekend Program
Assistant Professor of Teaching
Rutgers School of Social Work

Mark Dodd, LCSW
Psychotherapist
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (NY & NJ)
Certified School Social Worker (NJ)
Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Social Worker

Amy and Mark are the adoptive parents of an adult adoptee, and Amy is an adoptee in reunion with her biological family.

This is Session 1 of a three-part series on Identity and Transracial Adoption:

  • Session 1: Identity and Adoption (Adult adoptees; parents welcome)

  • Session 2: Transracial Adoption (Adult adoptees only)

  • Session 3: Search and Reunion (Adult adoptees and parents)

🔗 RSVP required

Please RSVP via the attached link by noon on 2/26/2026 to receive the Zoom link.

 Stepping Out of Adoption’s Shadow:
Confronting the Problem of Unlicensed Adoption Intermediaries and Online Advertising in Private Domestic Adoption

by Celeste Liversidge, Esq. and Kelsey Vander Vliet Ranyard

A surge in online adoption advertising and the proliferation of unlicensed adoption intermediaries (aka "baby brokers") in the past decade have created a troubling landscape for those impacted by private domestic adoption. Licensed adoption professionals, policymakers, and child welfare advocates should work together to safeguard the well-being of all parties involved in private domestic adoption through education, law enforcement, and legislation.
